A specimen that misses a lab's receiving window can mean a redrawn sample, a delayed diagnosis, or a frustrated patient. TyVia designs specimen routes around the actual cut-off times of the receiving laboratory — whether that means a single mid-morning pickup or several runs a day between draw sites in Bellingham and a lab in Mount Vernon. We work with your clinic or lab to set pickup windows that make sense for how you actually operate, not a one-size-fits-all timetable.
For clinics with predictable daily volume, a scheduled route (see our scheduled routes page) is usually the simplest arrangement: pickups happen automatically at agreed times, and your staff never has to call in a routine specimen run.
Packaging, handling, and chain of custody
Specimens must be packaged, sealed, and labeled by the sending organization before our courier arrives — that responsibility stays with your clinical staff, since they know the specific requirements for each specimen type. Our couriers check that the outer container is intact and properly labeled at pickup, and they keep specimens in a dedicated area of the vehicle, separated from unrelated shipments, for the entire trip.
We are candid about where our documented procedures currently stand: TyVia does not yet publish formal UN3373/Category B transport certification or a fully documented chain-of-custody process, and we do not advertise temperature-controlled transport. If your laboratory has specific packaging, temperature, or documentation requirements, raise them with us before scheduling so we can confirm, in writing, whether we can meet them.
Delivery confirmation and proof of delivery
When a specimen shipment reaches the receiving laboratory, our courier hands it to laboratory staff at the designated receiving point — specimens are never left unattended in a lobby or drop box unless your facility has specifically instructed us to use a secured drop location. Receipt is confirmed against the pickup's reference number, giving your clinic a record of when the shipment was delivered and accepted.
